On the roads of the Luberon in a 2CV

We spoke with Adrienne, manager of Oh my Deuche, Citroën 2CV rental and Escapades en Provence. A young company already well established which offers us an experience between discovery and nostalgia!

All roads lead to the Luberon

Originally from the region, Adrienne travelled the roads of France and Europe for a few years before returning to settle in the South Luberon. "We finally came back to our roots, in the small village of La Bastide des Jourdans. What made me want to come back to the Luberon? Probably the sun and the family! I know the area well and there is always something to see, all year round. Take the same landscape in winter, spring, summer and autumn, and it's always charming..."

A project born of experience

"We've travelled the roads of Provence and Europe at the wheel of old vans!"

The "Oh my Deuche" project, comes from a passion for vintage vehicles and also from an experience. "We wanted to share with as many people as possible another way of getting around, taking our time... I have had six or seven old vans in my hands. I had six or seven old vans in my hands. They were refurbished, fitted out and then resold... On board I discovered roads, countries and people who had marked our travels... From this experience came a desire to create something around old vehicles: what? how? where? and when? It was the fruit of 5 years of reflection before taking the plunge.

Oh My Deuche in Luberon

"I wanted to create a company in my own image".

Oh my Deuche is a Citroën 2CV rental company and Escapades en Provence that offers several packages. From free rental to themed tours, the possibilities are numerous and can be varied according to your desires during the booking.
For more than a year and a half, the Oh my Deuche adventure has been "out of the mud"! Adrienne and her husband use their mechanical experience and know-how to repair their vehicles themselves. This small business runs thanks to their multiple roles: website, marketing, social networks, reservation management and customer reception... A work force rewarded by the CCI of the Vaucluse on 8 March during the International Women's Rights Day.

"I was contacted last year by the CCI of Vaucluse about the creation of my business. They were setting up a small challenge to reward companies that were created last year. The hazards we are experiencing have pushed back the date originally planned until March 8, 2021. A challenge for women which ended at the amphitheatre in Avignon where I received the jury's "coup de coeur" prize for my small 2CV rental company.

The + of the deudeuche: freedom & and the carefree spirit of yesteryear

When Adrienne describes that "little extra something" that you find at the wheel of a 2CV, her enthusiasm promises an unusual moment. "In a 2CV, you take the time to observe the landscape; these cars don't go too fast and they don't have any electronics... People take the time to think about their itinerary, to talk to each other, to find their bearings, to look around them. A real moment of sharing is born thanks to this original experience.

"It's also a story of sensations: we are well installed on benches that look like sofas, there is the characteristic sound of the engine when we start or of the indicator when we turn, the sun on the top of the head hidden by a cap or a nice hat, it's timeless!"

The Luberon and its Most Beautiful Villages in France by 2CV

The 2CV experience must be lived to the full! We propose you a small tour on board one of Adrienne's deudeuches. We tested Cathy and Juliette!
From Bastide des Jourdans, let's take the road to one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France in Vaucluse: Ansouis. On board our car, let's enjoy the small bucolic roads lined with vineyards and olive trees. Let's pause for a few moments to stroll around and enjoy the village... Here we are again on the road to reach the Domaine de la Cavale, where a visit to the cellars and wine tasting await us!

A turnkey itinerary where we let ourselves be guided by our roadmap, in total freedom on the small paths.

The day continues by crossing the Luberon from south to north through the Combe de Lourmarin, the only road that allows us to pass from one side to the other. Arriving in Bonnieux we are faced with a spectacular view of the Ventoux, Apt and Gordes... The 2CV drives to Isle-sur-la-Sorgue where we enjoy a picnic! The afternoon was colourful with a visit to the Colorado Provençal in Rustrel!

Adjustments can be made according to the wishes of each person: a visit to the Village des Bories or to the Abbey of Notre Dame de Sénanque, there is something for everyone!

The day stretches out and is almost at an end. We pass by the Eastern Luberon via the road to Céreste. The apotheosis comes with a 360° view on the Alps, the Gorges du Verdon, the Luberon or the Montagne Sainte-Victoire... We return quietly to Bastide des Jourdans, adventurers for a day on the roads of the Luberon.
