Discover the beautiful village of Maubec in the Luberon in Vaucluse. Perched village that offers stunning views of the Monts de Vaucluse up to the Ventoux.
Maubec is perched on a hill parallel to the Luberon called La Montagnette (small mountain). The Vieux village of Maubec offers a breathtaking view of both the Monts de Vaucluse up to the Ventoux and the Luberon mountains.
Beautiful houses with Provencal architecture arranged along the calades (local pavement) and a small heritage linked to water (wells, noria...) make of this village a starting point for wonderful hikes.
Not far away, its Sunday morning farmer's market (Coustellet) is a must-see...
The origins of the name Maubec : Some says it's because the village was built on the wrong side of the hill (“ubac”).
The toponymy specialists agree to attach “beak” to the Celtic, spoken by the Gauls, with the notion of projecting rock, summit, or even fortification.
The Coustellet market offers a colourful and lively discovery of our terroir. “The peasant market”, a quality label set up by the Luberon Regional Natural Park, is a meeting place between producers and consumers.
Hike with breathtaking views of most of the villages on this northern slope of the Petite Luberon. You will discover many species of birds between shaded valleys and scrubland.
